CSOs call for resignation of EFCC chairman over Gaduje’s alleged N50b fraud – News – The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

A coalition of 30 anti-corruption civil society organizations has called for the resignation of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, over his alleged failure to prosecute a former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje. despite the multiple petitions against him on allegations of fraud and bribery running into billions of naira.

The CSOs, under the umbrella of the “Global Corruption Eradication Initiative”, also called for the immediate arrest of Ganduje, who they said had no immunity but allegedly enjoyed the cover of the Federal Government through the EFCC.

GICE spokesperson, Anthony Onoja, who addressed a press conference in Abuja at the weekend, stated, “The diverted LGA funds of N50 billion, dollar video and N1 billion probe seems that have been swept under the rug. It has been over 2,200 days since the dollar video scandal broke and yet EFCC is silent.”

The activists urged well-meaning Nigerians and relevant international organizations to come together to “prevent the EFCC from further insulting the sensibilities of Nigerians by calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Ganduje”.

“The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) must resign from office if he fails to arrest and prosecute Governor Ganduje in accordance with our existing laws,” he added.
