Woman Suffers Horrific Symptoms After Taking Tapeworm Pills To Lose Weight; Knowing how dangerous it is

Tapeworms can make a home in the gut after their eggs are inadvertently consumed and can lead to weight loss

Doctors recently warned about a peculiar case of a woman who, in an attempt to lose weight, took tapeworm egg pills from the Internet as a quick fix, but ended up with a devastating disease and side effects.

Experts say the parasites can make a home in the gut after their eggs are inadvertently consumed through undercooked meat products, with some growing up to 30 feet long as they consume post-chew meals of the host, thereby causing weight loss.

Although this strange practice of ingesting tapeworm eggs to lose weight dates back to the Victorian era, it is unclear how often the method was used.

The woman bought capsules full of tapeworm eggs

Dr. Bernard Hsu, a US-based oncologist, reported the case study on his YouTube channel, saying the 21-year-old Iowa-based man bought capsules full of tapeworm eggs using cryptocurrency. Known as TE, Dr. Hsu said she was struggling to lose weight through diet and exercise, and that’s when she came across the controversial method on the dark web.

“TE was intrigued. A ‘forbidden’ method has to be so good and so powerful that it’s the only secret she needs to know,” Hsu said. She initially took two tapeworm pills and got the results she wanted, although within a week she started having episodes of stomach cramps and bloating. However, because she was happy with the weight loss, the woman dismissed her symptoms.

He made a shocking discovery after a strange incident in the bathroom

However, according to Dr. Hsu, he began to worry after a shocking incident in the bathroom. “She thought she could feel something flapping and slapping her cheeks as she sat,” he said. “As he was about to roll, he looked back and saw rectangular, tan pieces floating in the bowl crawling out of the thick batter.”

However, within a few days, she began to notice more symptoms such as an unusual lump under her chin, fainting, severe headaches and cranial pressure, apart from severe abdominal pain.

After it became unbearable, she was tested for a bacterial infection which came back negative, but with some other symptoms. “He would have periods in time where he would suddenly wake up in the middle of the day and not be able to remember anything from the last few hours,” Dr. Hsu said.

Doctors found multiple injuries to his brain and other parts of his body, including his tongue and liver. She then revealed her dangerous diet. The doctors who treated her found that TE had ingested two species of the parasite: Taenia saginata i Taenia solium – which released the eggs into the bloodstream causing infection. He was then put on medication to treat the problem.

How dangerous are tapeworms?

According to experts, when a tapeworm hatches in the intestine, it begins to feed on the body’s nutrients and grow by reproducing from proglottids, the tapeworm’s chain-like body.

One of the biggest dangers with a tapeworm is that you can’t control where it attaches itself, such as other organs or tissues outside of your digestive tract causing serious damage. It leads to unpleasant symptoms, such as:

  • diarrhea
  • Severe stomach ache
  • Nausea
  • weakness
  • fever
  • Bacterial infections
  • Neurological problems
