Rece Davis reveals his No. 1 team after agonizing over the Week 8 AP poll

Rece Davis went through a range of emotions and thoughts when deciding on his Week 8 AP vote, and he documented them on X/Twitter for all to see.

Early on, Davis exclaimed that he was very impressed with Oregon’s win over Ohio State, stating that the Ducks would be ranked first and that he hopes to see the two sides meet again at some point. That was Davis’ immediate emotional reaction to Oregon’s 32-31 win Saturday night.

Beat this team? You are number 1 in my book. congratulations @oregonfootball and fans @OhioStateFB still up 3. What a game. Sign me up for a rematch in Indy. This was sensational. The two teams.

But apparently, after giving it some more thought, Davis reconsidered. He decided to leave Texas as the No. 1 team in the land after their 34-3 win over Oklahoma, saying he thinks they’re tied with Oregon if anything. He settled on a top 3 of Texas, Oregon and Ohio State.

The current portfolio of both teams is interesting and worth discussing. The Longhorns have a pair of wins over ranked teams after beating Michigan in Week 2 and Oklahoma in Week 7. However, the Sooners dropped out of the AP Top 25 on Sunday and the Wolverines have fallen to No. 24.

Meanwhile, Oregon’s win over Ohio State is the only ranked win for the Ducks, but that win (over a team currently ranked No. 4 in the country) is still better than any of Texas’ wins thus far. the season The Ducks also beat an unranked Boise State team earlier in the season with the Broncos since moving up to the No. 15 ranking after Week 7.
