Huge Game Freak Hack Leaks Next Pokemon Game

While Pokémon trainers can easily consult their Pokédex for whatever data they want, the franchise’s actual parent company, Game Freak, keeps confidential information under wraps. On October 12, 2024, hackers breached its defenses and allegedly found over a terabyte of Game Freak information. These hacks may have uncovered details about the next pokemon game — Here’s everything we know.

On October 12, 2024, hackers targeted the creators of the main Pokémon games. Game Freak, a development studio located in Japan, is a long-time Nintendo collaborator and has produced Pokemon classics such as Pokemon Red & Blue, HeartGold & SoulSilver, Black & White, and X & Y. Game Freak’s hacks successfully uncovered more than 1 terabyte of data, much of it related to past, present, and future Pokemon projects..

According to Pokemon leak account @CentroLeaks on X.com, the leaks contain codenames that refer to upcoming Pokemon projects. Leaked data claims that the upcoming Pokémon Gen 10 game is titled “Pokémon Gaia”.. Gaia is an ancient goddess who represents the Earth. He is one of the oldest deities in Greek mythology, so the new Pokémon game may have a Greek theme or take place in a region inspired by Greece. Previous Pokémon regions like Alola and Galar have also been inspired by real-world locations. Data from Game Freak also indicates that Pokémon Gaia may have two versions, a Version K and one Version N.

It looks like Pokémon Gaia would be produced as a game for Nintendo’s next console. The leaks refer to this console, possibly the Nintendo Switch 2, codenamed “Ounce”. This lines up with previous leaks referring to this Switch 2 codename. We know from hacked files that Nintendo is potentially testing and possibly releasing Pokemon Gaia on the original Switch as well.

Pokemon may also be planning a collaborative title with Game Freak and Japanese studio ILCA Games. This game, called Pokemon synapseis supposedly multiplayer and focuses on the franchise’s battle mechanics. It’s described in the files as “Splatoon-like” and could possibly be one MMO title, as one of the files in the leak is called “mmo_test”, but this is unconfirmed.

It’s important to note that we don’t know what time frame Game Freak’s leaks span. The Pokemon Company has plenty of time to change its mind, and fans may not see planned Pokemon titles come to fruition for months or even years.

Game Freak hack reveals alleged behind-the-scenes information on past Pokemon projects. According to CentroLeaks, the hack files contain the official 3rd generation map maker.
Above all, it also includes potential source code of HeartGold and SoulSilver i Pokemon Black and White 2. The files are supposedly kept beta builds of these titles and pixel art concept of trainers Ethan and Lyra, Team Galactic and Pokémon like Darkrai, Rotom and Lucario.

Leaker Light has obtained an official statement from Game Freak regarding the personal information that was leaked along with all the Pokemon reveals.
