Massive Pokemon Leak Reveals Gen 10 and New MMO

Massive Pokemon Leak Reveals Gen 10 and New MMO

It looks like Pokemon developer Game Freak has been hacked and a couple of unannounced Pokemon games have been leaked as a result. More specifically, Gen 10, meaning the next main Pokemon game, and a new online MMO. Unfortunately, the leak doesn’t include any media from either game, instead leaking their existence, codenames, and some details. Meanwhile, the source code of older Pokemon games has also been leaked online as part of this hack.

The new MMO is in development under the codename “Synapse” and is made in collaboration with Game Freak and ILCA. Details about it are scarce, other than that it’s an MMO and “battle-focused.” Some sources also describe the game as similar to Splatoon, but it’s unclear in what ways and where exactly this leak is coming from.

Meanwhile, Pokémon Gen 10 is being developed under the code name “Gaia”. Like the new MMO, it’s being made for the Nintendo Switch 2, codenamed Ounce according to that same leak. If that’s true, the soonest we’ll see these games is next year, which is when the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to come out, at least according to a slew of rumors.

In addition to leaking new games, the leak has flooded the internet with the source code for Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul Silver, as well as Pokemon Black and White 2.

The origins of this Game Freak leak are currently unclear, but it’s quickly spreading across the internet. In the process, it has also been validated by a few reliable sources. Meanwhile, accounts that shared the leak are starting to go private, likely in anticipation of Nintendo and The Pokemon Company starting issuing DMCA claims. So far, however, there is no evidence of this.

At the time of publication, Game Freak, The Pokemon Company, and Nintendo have not commented on this leak and the speculation it has created. We don’t suspect that will change for a number of reasons, but if it does, we’ll be sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, be sure to take everything with a grain of salt. While it’s hard to question the validity of the leak itself, as it provides overwhelming evidence, including an upload of personal and private files, it’s possible that the files are old and therefore potentially inaccurate. As far as we know, these projects have been preserved, but the files seem to indicate that they are in development.
