A woman succumbs to burns after the cylinder leaks

A 26-year-old woman died on Friday after a fire broke out at her house in Madipakkam, following a leaking LPG cylinder.

The victim has been identified as Lincy Blessy, a native of Salem and an employee of a private bank in Nanganallur. He was staying in a rented house in Kuberan Nagar Extension.

On Tuesday, he called his colleague Manikandan for help when he found the gas cylinder in his house empty. Manikandan, a resident of Gowrivakkam, brought a new cylinder to her house and helped her connect it to the stove. When he turned on the stove, there was an explosion that injured them both.

Neighbors came to their rescue and rushed them to the Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital.

On Friday, Lincy succumbed to unresponsive burns.

Madipakkam police have registered a case. They suspect that a gas leak from the tube or regulator not properly fixed to the cylinder must have caused the accident.
