Lee Carsley does not want a permanent job in England

Lee Carsley doesn’t want to be England’s next long-term manager, Telegraph Sports it has been said

The Football Association have declined to comment and it is unclear whether Carsley has told them directly that he does not want the full-time job, with his spell as interim manager set to end next month.

In the build-up to Sunday’s Nations League game against Finland in Helsinki, Carsley dropped another hint that he did not expect to take up the job full-time.

Asked to explain what he meant by ‘hopefully he’s back in the Under-21s’ after the defeat to Greece, Carsley said: “Hopefully it’s a word and a phrase I use quite a bit. Obviously there’s no there are guarantees in life, including tomorrow.

“It’s a job, the U-21, that I’m very proud of and that I’ve invested massively in. But I know there are no guarantees. But the plan is to give this job for three camps the best I can along with the rest of the staff and hopefully we can be in a good position.”
