This Morning show ‘who started the downfall of Holly & Phil’ revealed after the shock left her ‘incandescent with rage’

HOLLY Willoughby was red-hot with rage when Phillip Schofield refused to let her present alone on International Women’s Day this morning, The Sun on Sunday can reveal.

The clash was reported to be the start of a bitter fallout for the presenting duo before they left the show last year.

But Phillip’s friends claim he felt he was being “thrown under the bus” to make it look like he was causing trouble.

A friend explained: “Phil said Holly was ‘incandescent’ about the whole thing. The next thing ITV’s press team got a call from the press suggesting Phil had been difficult.

“It was like an orchestrated coup, that maybe Holly wanted to host the show for herself and didn’t need Phil anymore.”

The row began with a terse exchange with the boss of ITV’s flagship show, Martin Frizell.

A pal said: “Phil got a text from Martin asking him to take the day off because Holly wanted to do the show herself.

“Martin told Phil something similar on the show that he wanted to give women in the UK a day off from everything – no washing, no chores.

“I wanted them to celebrate being women. Phil said that what Martin was suggesting was not what the day was about.

“For Phillip, who has two lovely daughters, it felt condescending and very degrading.

“He told Martin that he felt like a misogynist from the 1950s and that he was degrading to women and urged him to do something better.

“Martin then suggested that he introduce a wine article, which left Phil in over his head and complaining to Emma Gormley, the day managing director.”

Holly Willoughby is finally smiling again after ‘living in absolute fear’ following the kidnapping plot

In the end, Holly, 43, presented the start of the show in March last year alone with female production staff, and Phillip, 62, joined her later.

The new claims come just days after The Sun revealed how Phillip called Holly ‘the witch’ and directly accused her of ‘talking to me’.
