Jaguars defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen also spoke Thursday. Below is a transcript of what he had to say.

Q: On defense in the final five minutes of Sunday’s game against Indianapolis?

Nielsen: “Yeah, I mean, that’s what, you look back, the game, we had it, we were up two goals. We were playing the two-minute situation, and we had a quarter call for that situation right there, waiting for the deep ball. It could have been two highs right there. Then the second one, we’re playing a quarterback concept. So yeah, I’ve got to make a better call and get out of the field in this situation”.

Q: About whether you’ve ever experienced an offensive comeback so quickly?

Nielsen: “Yeah, I wasn’t expecting it at all. We were expecting the deep balls, but not the result of the play. So again, I’ve got to make a better call and get off the field in those situations safely.”

Q: About taking responsibility for the Colts’ recent scoring? Nielsen: “Yeah, it’s on me. No, it’s not on our players. It’s on me. It’s 100 percent on me.”

Q: What did it mean to him to see DE Travon Walker play a rushing game against Indianapolis?

Nielsen: “I’ll tell you, when you look at the game from the first pass to the last, he had a very good passing scheme throughout, changing his runs with a little power or a little finesse in the edge, running, some stuff up and down. It was really impressive to see, he did it and he finished it. So when you look at the whole job, I want say, he played very well.”

Q: What has he seen of Bears QB Caleb Williams?

Nielsen: “He is a phenomenal athlete. I mean, the balance, the pocket presence. He’s getting out of sacks all over the place and running and making plays with his feet. And then he can make every pitch. I mean, the guy has a cannon for an arm. He has a very good awareness and continues to improve, like from the first game to the last game, you saw the constant growth of this player. It will be a good test.”

Q: On your assessment of safety play this season and the impact of S Tashaun Gipson Sr.’s eventual return?

Nielsen: “Yes, I think we have experienced very good times. I think you look at the first half of the Miami game, guys were all over the place, and then there’s just a few plays here and there, the Cleveland game, I think, and even in Houston, sometimes guys are all over the place everywhere place But then we’ve had some moments where it looks like we just have to change some calls and get some guys in better positions to make some plays. Again, that’s up to me. I have to make it happen for these guys and execute and play the full 60 minutes.”

Q: On the impact of CB Tyson Campbell’s return from injury?

Nielsen: “Getting him back is very important, and when that happens, you’ll see him. I mean, the window is open, so he’ll be here for the next two games. Very good player, talented, he could cover anybody. I mean, they’re impressive the things he can do on the field. So getting him back is a big boost like any other player, you don’t want to lose anyone, but getting Tyson back will be good to see him back on the field with our defense.”
