Phoenix Suns fans hoping to see Devin Booker in Friday night’s preseason game against the Detroit Pistons were disappointed as the guard sat out.

He was dealing with an ankle injury, but head coach Mike Budenholzer said there was nothing to worry too much about.

According to Gerald Bourguet, Budenholzer said: “It’s the pre-season. There’s no reason to generally push him, the ankle, and I think he’ll be fine.”

That’s certainly good news, even if some Suns fans might not believe it.

Booker was in the team’s lineup for other preseason games but did not suit up for Friday’s game against the Pistons, though the team says it was just a precaution.

He’s still in position to start with the team when the regular season begins in two weeks.

Injuries are nothing new for the Suns and have often completely derailed the entire season, so you can understand why some people would freak out over this one, no matter how minor.

The team is already dealing with a finger injury to big man Jusuf Nurkic, who also did not play Friday night.

Hopefully, Nurkic, Booker and the rest of the team stay healthy, but there is a fear that this is just the beginning of the injuries.

Booker averaged 27.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game last season and deservedly earned his final All-Star appearance.

The Suns are desperate to have a good season and that means they need Booker healthy and ready to play all year.
