ZA Leak Reveals First Pokemon, Mega Evolutions

A new Pokemon Legends: ZA leak has surfaced online, revealing the first Pokemon coming to the game as well as the return of Mega Evolutions. While the expectation is that the game’s Pokedex will include the entire Gen 6 Pokedex, plus others, this has not been confirmed. This is only speculation because Pokemon Legends: ZA is set in Lumiose City. For those who don’t know, Lumiose City is located in Kalos, the region of Pokémon X|Y, also known as Gen 6.

While we still don’t have any official news on the Pokemon Legends: ZA Pokedex, we do have the most definitive thing yet: a leak, courtesy of Centro Leaks. Yesterday, Game Freak, the developer of the series, was hacked. In turn, a metric ton of information has been leaked about old, current, and future games, as well as other media projects like movies, TV shows, and anime. To that end, Game Freak’s entire databases are circulating online, but not much has been leaked about Pokemon Legends: ZA, at least until now.

What has been revealed from the game is that Mega Evolutions are back. To that end, Mega Zygarde and Mega Zeraora are in the leak. Unfortunately, there is no means of any of the Mega Evolutions, just strings of codes and files that point to their existence in the game. The first, Mega Zygarde, seems to be getting ready for an anime debut as well.

In addition to this, it has been revealed that the game was originally planned to be released on Nintendo Switch this year, 2024. When those plans changed, we don’t know. It’s also unclear if it will launch on the current Nintendo Switch, or if it will end up being a Switch 2-only game. Given its potential release schedule of 2025, it will likely end up being a cross-generational release, meaning releasing on both Switch as Switch 2.

Of course, take all of this information with a grain of salt. The leak is legitimate; there is no doubt of its validity. However, it is not clear how old this information is. To that end, it may no longer be accurate as things change in game development all the time. This is evident from the previous release date word of 2024.
