Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys odds, experts’ picks, how to watch: Two high-powered NFC offenses set for talent-filled rematch

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys odds, experts’ picks, how to watch: Two high-powered NFC offenses set for talent-filled rematch

As road favorites, the Detroit Lions head to Dallas for a comeback after a controversial game-ending call late last season.

The Cowboys beat the Lions when Detroit’s two-point conversion was overturned by the officials. Left tackle Taylor Decker caught a pass in the end zone from Jared Goff, but the refs said Decker was not reported as an eligible receiver.

If there’s any confusion this time around, Lions head coach Dan Campbell can tear his shirt off in frustration. As both teams set their sights on the road to the Super Bowl, this game is sure to be tense, with or without drama from the officiating.

A lot rests on Jared Goff’s shoulders in the run to win a second straight NFC North division title. Before Detroit’s bye week, Goff had a perfect 18-for-18 game against the Seahawks. What’s alarming for Dallas is that Goff told reporters he’s had better games. He might need one of those against Dallas’ secondary and defense, which has allowed just six touchdown passes in five games.

Don’t let the mediocre total of 11 fool you. The Cowboys have the second-best rushing percentage in the NFL at 13.6. Dallas is pressing without relying heavily on the blitz. They have tough defensive ends and linebackers, like Eric Kendricks and DeMarcus Lawrence, the latter of whom is on IR with a foot injury. But watch that Amon-Ra St. Brown gets loose on the edges and has possibly his best game of the season.

The Lions make no secret of wanting to pound the football into the underbelly of opposing defenses until the other side collapses. Last season, when these teams met, Detroit outscored the Cowboys on the ground by a ratio of more than 2 to 1. David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs are a dual threat, unmatched in the NFL, and their success is critical to to a revenge win for the Lions.
