410 passengers fined for unauthorized travel at Pune railway station

Due to the festive season, there is a rush at the railway station and a large number of passengers are traveling illegally, so these drives are conducted by the railway administration, officials said.

To ensure safe travel and better service to passengers, the Pune railway division cracked down on unauthorized journeys by adopting measures like random ticket checking and imposition of fines.

The action was taken against 410 passengers on Thursday under the direction of Pune Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey.

“During the journey 1.18 lakh in fines were collected from 410 passengers for unauthorized journeys and for carrying unreserved baggage,” said Rampal Barpagga, spokesperson of the Pune railway division.

“The drive was overseen by Hemant Kumar Behera, Divisional Commercial Manager; and 35 ticket control personnel and 2 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel were deployed at all entry and exit gates,” Barpagga said.

Due to the festive season, there is a rush at the railway station and a large number of passengers travel illegally, so the railway administration conducts such trips, officials said.
