A woman has revealed how she and her boyfriend canceled all their holidays so they could attend a friend’s wedding, only to discover they weren’t actually invited to the ceremony.

The woman discussed the awkward incident on Reddit under the r/Wedding Shaming subreddit.

She explained that she was ecstatic to hear her “good friend” was getting married, but when she heard the nuptials were set for early July, she had a decision to make.

Unfortunately, she already had plans to attend a music festival in Europe with her boyfriend that same weekend.

But when her friend told her that a concert “isn’t as important as a wedding”, the Reddit user explained that she decided to “cancel everything” so she could be there to support her friend your big day

“And then we get to the fun part. We start asking for details, like exactly where the wedding is and what time it starts,” she recalled.

The woman explained that about a month before the wedding celebration, she and her boyfriend were hanging out at the couple’s house when they started “acting strangely.”

Suddenly, the bride and groom-to-be shared some troubling news: they had decided to get married on a ship, so the guest list had to be extremely small due to limited space.

This meant that only immediate family members could attend the ceremony, but were welcome to attend the reception that evening.

“They’ve decided to get married on a boat and only family can come, but we’re welcome to the party tonight,” the Reddit user shared.

In the end, the woman said they tried to make the most of it, and attended the party with a group of friends who ‘also missed the boat’.
