British expat reveals three things Aussies can’t do as his rant about traditions quickly backfires

A British expat living in Sydney has opened up about Australian traditions, claiming he is “hardwired” to refuse to work past a certain hour.

The construction worker claimed his Australian colleagues are too busy with fake booze to work past 3pm every day.

‘These boys don’t work past three o’clock; they can’t do it. They start to itch,’ he said in a video shared on social media.

“They say, ‘Oh, it’s three o’clock. I want a schooner.”

“They’re set to stop working and go to the beach for a beer.”

Australian trade workers usually start their day early at around 6 or 7 am and finish after an eight-hour day at 3 pm, although this can vary.

Many were quick to defend Australian traditions in the comments.

“In defense of traditions, they start work from 5/6 in the morning so they have done a full day’s work at 3 (pm),” argued one.

“I was a tradesman who worked from 7.30am to 5pm most days, sometimes until dark if necessary,” agreed another.

“Yet another whiny Pom,” one Aussie couldn’t help but add.

Australian traditions tend to run early, starting with the sun in winter and aiming to finish as early as possible to avoid the heat in summer.

The Construction Institute of New South Wales said about half of professionals work nine hours or more each day and one in 10 work more than 11 hours.

But that wasn’t the only thing that bothered the Brit from Australia.

He claimed that Australians can’t “name places” and instead took inspiration from England and were terrible drivers.

“So many places, even just in Sydney, you’ve got the likes of Guildford, Epping, Liverpool … Newcastle too,” he said.

Many viewers were quick to remind him that many places in Australia were named by English settlers, derived from places in England.

“It was the British who named the places, not the Australians,” said one.

‘(My God) the English colonized Australia and put everything. Don’t you know your own history mate? added another.

The Briton also accused Australians of being bad drivers.

“But you’re in Sydney aren’t you? I’m scared to drive in Sydney,” said one.

‘Sydney! I’m scared of them driving. crazy fast But maybe that’s how you have to drive to get anywhere,” added another Aussie.

“Anytime you want to take me to the airport champ (message me),” offered one Aussie.
