Flav has long been a trailblazer, and in his post, he urged fans to prioritize their mental health, offering them free access to a therapy platform for the day.

‘I always like to be the first to do something revolutionary. This is something special that can help so many people. Help me help you’.

In January 2023, Flavor Flav opened up about his intense battle with addiction during a candid conversation on DJ Akademiks’ Off The Record Spotify podcast.

The star revealed he was spending $2,600 a day on drugs at the height of his addiction, amounting to nearly $1 million a year over a six-year period.

“I stayed pretty cool while I was in this shit, you hear me? I kept it under wraps,” said the 64-year-old, whose real name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr.

He admitted that despite his heavy drug use, he managed to keep the extent of his addiction a secret.

“There was a time when I spent $2,400 to $2,600 a day for six years. You do the math. That’s how much I spent on drugs.’

Flav also revealed that even though he made money selling drugs, he was his “best customer”.

“I had a lot of money, but I was just doing the wrong things with it,” he reflected.

He also talked about how drug culture was glorified in the music of his time. “Back in the day, when we did drug records, we talked about selling drugs. It was about who could make more money, who was playing with the pressing. It was a competition for all scammers.

Now in recovery, Flav reflects on his journey with a sense of purpose. ‘God wanted him to live because he knew he was a spokesman for the world. I can show people the mistakes I’ve made.’

Flavor Flav has had a tumultuous history with drug abuse.

In 2015, he was arrested for driving under the influence of cocaine on a highway in Las Vegas, and Clark County prosecutors also charged him with speeding and having an open container of alcohol.

His struggles with addiction date back decades.

In 1993, Flav faced charges of domestic violence, as well as possession of cocaine and marijuana, which led him to seek treatment at the Betty Ford Center for addiction to crack cocaine.

He later checked himself back into rehab in 1997 at the Long Island Center for Recovery.

Despite his troubled past, Flavor Flav made a big return to the public eye in 2004 when he joined the cast of VH1’s The Surreal Life.

His romance with co-star Brigitte Nielsen became a pop culture phenomenon, leading to more reality television opportunities.

These included Strange Love and Flavor of Love, which further cemented his fame in reality television.

Now, as he nears his four-year sobriety milestone, Flavor Flav continues to use his platform to speak candidly about the battles he’s overcome, with the goal of inspiring others to make positive changes in their own lives
