A City Hall hearing meant to address service issues for U.S. Postal Service customers in Boston did not go as planned this week, when representatives from the agency declined to attend.

Councilwoman Sharon Durkan ordered the hearing after numerous constituents expressed concern about the negative effects of mail delivery delays. Durkan told Tuesday’s hearing that he was accidentally forwarded an internal email chain among Postal Service staff accusing the council of having a “political agenda” when they were invited to attend.
