‘Kaos’ Creator Reacts To Netflix Canceling Show: I’m Gutted”

chaos creator Charlie Covell has spoken out after Netflix canceled the Greek mythology comedy series after its first season.

Covell, who uses the pronouns they/them, took to producer Sister’s Instagram page to share a message for fans: “Of course I’m gutted not to do more. chaosbut I don’t want this news to overshadow what we did. I’m incredibly lucky to have worked with such an exceptionally talented cast and crew, and I’m so proud of our show. Thanks to absolutely everyone involved – it was a herculean team effort and a great privilege to work with you all.”

chaos it was a modern contemporary retelling of Greek and Roman mythology. The series starred Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, who chained his compatriot Prometheus (Stephen Dillane) to a cliff as punishment for interfering with Zeus’ rule. Prometheus then sought to overthrow Zeus with the help of three humans: Eurydice (Aurora Perrineau), Ariadne (Leila Farzad) and Caeneus (Misia Butler).

In his message, Covell also praised the show’s fans for their continued “love and enthusiasm.”

“I’ve been shown subreddits that have positively made my heart sing – the little details and easter eggs you’ve spotted made my day many times over,” they wrote. “I’ve been overwhelmed by your positive responses to the show, thank you!”

The creator also noted that a theory they saw on Reddit “about who or what chaos is” was “banking the money”.

Covell concluded: “My hope now is that people continue to discover and enjoy the show – I think there are some potential fans who need more time to find it, so please keep talking about chaos if you liked it Thanks so much for watching!”

Following news of the cancellation on Tuesday, Perrineau wrote on Instagram that “this hurts,” but praised her co-stars and the show’s creative team.

“Everyone was great and unique. Every performance surprised and moved me,” she wrote. “I can’t believe I have to do this with all of you. We did something weird, dark, hilarious, deranged and utterly tragic, something utterly human.”
