Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s lawyer slams Piers Morgan over Diddy comparisons

Kevin Hart, for example, avoided questions about the rapper, while Beyoncé and Jay-Z were forced to go on the defensive after being accused of similar behavior on Piers Morgan’s show. The Carters’ lawyer blasted the reporter for allowing the “false accusation” to spread.

The interview in question was broadcast on Piers Morgan’s No censorship on Oct. 3, where singer Jaguar Wright claimed that power couple Jay-Z and Beyoncé had more “victims” than P. Diddy. The couple’s attorney, Alex Spiro, spoke TMZ liverevealing that the team had issued an ultimatum to Morgan to withdraw the interview or face legal action. Spiro said:

There are rumors and then there is nonsense and this is a step further. This is a pointed and formal accusation of something. I felt it needed to be answered. I think someone reported it was a layoff. It wasn’t that. It was clearly an ultimatum, meaning to drop this demonstrably false allegation or be ordered to do so by a court.

Piers Morgan removed the clip from his Jaguar Brown interview and apologized to Jay-Z and Beyoncé on the Oct. 8 edition of No censorshipwhich Alex Spiro called a “wise choice.” The interview was broadcast a few days later 120 alleged victims filed civil lawsuits against P. Diddyaccusing him of crimes including sexual assault, in one case of a 9-year-old boy, over three decades.

Although Piers Morgan acted “accordingly” by editing his show, Alex Spiro still had sharp words for the former. Daily Mirror editor, questioning his integrity for issuing the comment comparing his clients to Diddy. Spiro said:

What changed my mind is that someone on a so-called journalistic platform exploited this kind of random rumor, whether they are out of touch with reality like you, and raised it. … And by doing this to get clicks, it didn’t just hurt the Carters. What it did, effectively, was drown out the voices of the real victims in an ongoing case in an ongoing investigation, and that’s too much for me.

turned on No censorship on Tuesday, Piers Morgan addressed the Jaguar Wright interview. After noting that he has an audience with or without using his show, he said:

Jaguar Wright unexpectedly made several serious allegations about Jay-Z and Beyoncé during this interview. As I said at the time, they were not present to answer or defend themselves. But now they have. His lawyers contacted us to say that those claims were completely false and have no basis in fact. And so we have complied with the legal request to cut them from the original interview. Editing interviews is not something we do lightly on a show called Uncensored. But like the proverbial shouts of “fire” in a crowded theater, there are legal limits to us too. Apologies to Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

The Carters, who have been friends with Diddy for some time, have not spoken out since arrest of the rapper on September 16.

Sean Combs continues to seek bail while awaiting trial. After being denied twice in his he is trying to post $50 million bailCombs’ legal team filed another appeal this week, explaining why is it not a flight risk. It was not known when a decision would come on the latest request.
