Prince Harry reveals William’s four-word response to learning Meghan Markle was pregnant

when Prince Harry i Meghan Markle first discovered they were expecting a baby, in 2018 they shared the news with their closest family during of Princess Eugenia wedding celebrations But when the royal couple shared the happy news with Harry’s brother Prince William, his simple reaction might not be what you’d expect.

Duke of Sussex Harry, 40, revealed the private interaction in his best-selling book Spare, which was published last year. In the book that explains everything, Harry write, of the moment at the special royal reception at St George’s Hall: “We were in a big room, with armor on the walls. Strange room, strange time.”

Go on to explain how Prince William 42, reacted to the news that Harry would become a father for the first time and that William would become an uncle. Harry said William first responded with just four words: “We have to tell Kate.”

Prince Harry reveals he was pleased Kate Middleton’s reaction as well as that of his brother, writing: “Big smile and sincere congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I expected, as I had wished.”

The Royal explained how she broke the news of the couple’s pregnancy to her father. King Charles. Harry shared that Charles was equally happy with the baby, and found time to tell his father the news before the wedding toast.

He wrote: “Just before a reception for the bride and groom, we cornered Pa in his study. He was delighted to learn he was going to be a grandfather for the fourth time – his wide smile warmed me” .

Harry and Meghan’s first child, Archie Harrison, is now five, while the couple also welcomed daughter Lilibet Diana in 2021, who is three. The family now live together in Montecito, California, where they have been based for four years since leaving the UK.

The royal family has also had more happy news to celebrate recently. Princess Beatrice announced this last week she is expecting her second child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Despite the book’s happy memories, relations between the royal family still appear to be strained. However, a former royal butler believes that during a recent world tour, Harry has been trying to send a veiled message of reconciliation to his father, King Charles.
