New York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. wasn’t the most popular person at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday.

Kansas City Royals fans booed him constantly following his comments after Game 2 when he he told reporters the American League Central team “just got lucky” in tying the series at one.

“I’ve never seen anyone boo a bum,” he told reporters on Wednesday before also reacting on social media:

Once my people at home cheer me on, nothing matters 🗣️🤷🏾‍♂️🐣#bronxdawgs

Royals fans were probably more worried about players like Aaron Judge or Juan Soto making it to the AL Division Series, but Chisholm drew their ire when he struck out New York in Game 2.

“It still feels the same that we’re going to win it,” he said in plenary. “I don’t think anybody feels any different. We’re going to go out and keep doing our thing. We don’t feel like any other team is better than us yet. We missed a lot of opportunities tonight. so they just got lucky.”

He had the last laugh Wednesday as the Yankees stole home field advantage with a 3-2 victory.

While Chisholm didn’t do much going 0-for-4, Giancarlo Stanton played the role of hero for the Bronx Firemen.

The slugger went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, a stolen base and what turned out to be the game-winning home run in the eighth inning. Both bullpens had a strong performance after starters Clarke Schmidt and Seth Lugo each gave up two runs in the first five innings, as Stanton’s blast was the only run in the final four stretches.

Kansas City will play its season game when it takes the field on Thursday.

If he wins, there will be a deciding Game 5 in New York on Saturday. If he loses, all the boos from the crowd at Chisholm will be for naught.
