The strike by workers at Boeing factories is over, but this is only one of the company’s problems

Boeing factory workers voted to accept a contract offer and the end their strike after more than seven weeks, clearing the way for the company to restart idle assembly lines in the Pacific Northwest.

But the strike was just one of many challenges facing the US aerospace giant as it works to return to profitability and regain public trust.

Boeing’s 33,000 striking machinists called off picket lines Monday night after leaders of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in Seattle said 59 percent of union members who voted agreed to approve the -the company’s fourth official offer, which included a 38% salary increase over four years.

Union mechanics gather 737 MaxBoeing’s best-selling airliner, along with the 777 or “triple-seven” and the 767 freighter from factories in Renton and Everett, Washington. Resuming production will allow Boeing to generate much-needed cash that it has been bleeding.

“Even for a company the size of Boeing, it’s a life-threatening problem,” said Gautam Mukunda, a lecturer at the Yale School of Management.
