More details are emerging about the Augusta shooting that killed a 15-year-old

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The report into the shooting death of 15-year-old Devayn Grissam has been released after a suspect was arrested in the case, authorities told us Tuesday.

Authorities say they have responded 2300 block of Helsinki Drive around 6:21 p.m. about a victim with a gunshot wound.

Grissam, of Augusta, was located suffering from at least one gunshot wound, deputies said. He was taken to a hospital where he later died at 7:07 p.m., according to the report.

Ricky Antwavious Holmes, 19, was arrested Friday, according to jail bookings.

Arrest warrants show that Holmes returned fire, striking Grissam in the torso, killing him.

“He took a piece of me. Yes, for sure. It took a piece of me and I don’t know if I’m ever going to heal from that, you know,” said Telisha Grissam, Devayn’s aunt.

Holmes is charged with murder, according to jail bookings.

Records show Holmes is being held at the Richmond County Jail
