Queen Camilla is suffering from a chest infection, Palace says

Queen Camilla has pulled out of a series of engagements scheduled this week because of a chest infection, Buckingham Palace said.

No further details of her illness or treatment have been released, but she is understood to be resting at home under the supervision of doctors.

The Duchess of Gloucester will speak on behalf of the Queen at the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey on Thursday.

The Queen will also not attend a reception at Buckingham Palace for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, which will be hosted by King Charles, later that evening.

The Palace statement said: “Her Majesty the Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection for which her doctors have recommended a short period of rest,” a palace spokesman said.

“It is with great regret that Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but very much hopes that she will be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal.”
