Usually the wait is not that long. In 1896, William Jennings Bryant needed two days before awarding the election to President William McKinley. Since then, most candidates have passed either on the same day or the next day, with two exceptions – 2000 and 2020.

The Sunshine State has had voting problems with hanging chads and allegations of misconduct. The case reached the Supreme Court, which ruled in Bush’s favor. Trump never conceded the election.
