Hamilton police double charge after reports of theft, gun recovered

Hamilton police have charged a man and a woman on multiple counts following a burglary incident that turned into a car and foot chase and the recovery of a loaded gun a day later.

Police were called to Limeridge Mall on November 3 after reports of “suspicious persons” in connection with theft calls the day before.

Officers spotted a car matching the description related to the incident and attempted to stop it.

The driver drove into a dead end street where she was forced to stop.

A passenger then ran from the car and police began a foot chase.

The police recovered the gun and found that it was loaded.

Authorities later charged Anthony Cosic, 25, with three counts of failure to comply with a release order, possession of a prohibited firearm and two other firearms-related charges.

The driver, Shadia Yusuf Noor, 26, was charged with two counts of failure to comply with a court order, fleeing a police officer and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both Cosic and Yusuf Noor are from Hamilton.
