Times: Record heat for election day; Rain showers return to Metro Detroit during the evening

We’ll get a break from rain for most of the day on Election Day, but clouds will remain throughout the day. Rain showers will move into the region again by the evening hours on Tuesday as the urns close and with strong southerly flow we are looking at a possible record temperature by the time we get to Tuesday afternoon.

We forecast a high of 76° for Tuesday afternoon, which would break the record of 74° set in 2022. With the unseasonably warm conditions, the wind will continue to blow for the next few days. Expect wind gusts in excess of 30 miles per hour on Monday, and up to 35 miles per hour on Tuesday.
