BLACKPINK’s Rose is gearing up to release her new album, Rosie, and has begun opening up about her songs, past relationships, and struggles with negativity. Although she usually keeps her personal life private, like many celebrities, she has faced criticism online. The South Korean singer recently revealed that she tends to scroll through social media late at night, which exposes her to “bad comments” that can affect her well-being. This led her to reflect on her feelings of vulnerability and longing for love and understanding. Inspired by this experience, she wrote a song for her upcoming album that captures these emotions.

Speaking to Paper Magazine, Rose said she often scrolls late at night and has developed a habit of checking “bad comments that will just pop into my head.” She said: “I realized how vulnerable and dependent I was on this (online) world and that desire to feel like I wanted to be loved and understood, I hated that about myself.”

Rose added that the lyrics in Rosie are inspired by her past relationships. She hopes her music resonates with listeners, allowing them to see their own lives reflected in her stories. Outlining her relationship, Rose said she experiences the same ups and downs as any other 20-year-old, acknowledging the complexities of this stage of life filled with vulnerability, confusion, excitement and anger.

The BLACKPINK singer said, “I think I’m thankful enough that I’ve been through a few relationships, you know, like a normal 20-year-old girl. I want people to understand that I’m not much different than your average girlfriend or 23-year-old girl. I’m probably very well known if you listen to my songs and if anyone has been in a relationship like that. It doesn’t even have to be a boyfriend, but any type of toxic relationship. The 20s are not an easy time to live. It’s when you’re very vulnerable and confused, excited and angry about life. That’s what I wanted to sing about.”

Rosie, the album, will be released on December 6.
