All eyes are on the polls as electoral irregularities were expected to occur on election day

Ahead of an election of enormous consequence in which control of the US House, Senate and White House are all on the line, state officials and political parties face numerous election integrity issues. Many have already resulted in lawsuits.

Election integrity issues range from fraudulent voter registration and ballots to denying poll observers access to voter suppression. Some of these have already occurred in crucial states, with both political parties rushing to take the issues to court, while other issues are expected to emerge on Election Day, when millions of voters head to the polls.

This presidential election is expected to be close because RealClearPolitics poll average shows former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris tied nationally at 48.5 percent.

Honest Elections Project Executive Director Jason Snead said before Just the news that election results delays are likely to occur with a close race, and swing states Arizona and Pennsylvania are likely to have delays in announcing the results of the presidential election.

Amid the tight presidential race, the Republican National Committee said it did filed 130 lawsuits in 26 states this election cycle, while Harris’ campaign said The New York Times in August, his campaign legal team grew 10 times that of President Joe Biden in 2020.

Some swing states have already experienced electoral irregularities during early and mail-in voting as others prepare to hold Election Day.

Pennsylvania

Five Pennsylvania counties are investigating possible fraudulent voter applications and vote-by-mail applications in the days and weeks leading up to Election Day.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday, “Apparent attempts to mail fraudulent voter registration forms in Berks, Lancaster, Monroe and York counties have been foiled. The Attorney General’s Office is working with the respective county officials to investigate those responsible for this behavior.”

In addition, Cambria County found fraudulent voter registration applications.

They have been before numerous processes in the community on electoral procedures and administration.

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign and the RNC won a lawsuit against Bucks County, Pa., on Wednesday to extend early voting by three days following allegations that voters were turned away before early voting polls were scheduled to close.

US Supreme Court on Friday was unanimously agreed TO allows a Pennsylvania judgment to stand which allows voters whose postal ballots are rejected for technical reasons to have their votes still count if they vote again by provisional ballot. The original lawsuit was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania, and the RNC appealed to the US Supreme Court.

Georgia

According to RNC Chairman Michael Whatley, Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties ballots accepted over the weekendcontrary to state law, and prevented Republican poll watchers from observing the ballot count. “Following our pressure campaign, our poll watchers have now been allowed into the building from all four Georgia counties,” Whatley posted on X Saturday.

The RNC sued those four counties — in addition to Chatham, Clarke and Clayton counties — in a lawsuit that is still ongoing.

“Our process for the offices that remain open is still ongoing, but we have our eyes in the room as the votes are counted,” Whatley wrote in his post.

Arizona

Maricopa County, Arizona’s most populous county, can experience problems on Election Day and it can take several days for results to be tallied. Maricopa County election officials announced that it will take 10-13 days to fully tabulate all ballots, meaning some races may not be called on election night.

The county claims that “state election laws and narrow margins of victory” are the causes for the expected delay, as voters are given a five-day period to provide sufficient identification if they haven’t already.

However, Kari Lake, the GOP candidate for US Senate from Arizona, argued that the election results should not be delayed 10-13 days. “In 2022, the Arizona Legislature empowered County Recorders to allow voters to tabulate their own advance ballots on Election Day, but for some reason the Maricopa County Recorder refuses to give voters that option.” Lake posted on X.

There can also be long lines in Maricopa County on Election Day.

RNC Counselor Harmeet Dhillon and Abe Hamadeh, the GOP candidate for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, warned the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office and the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors about potential voting delays and issues which could take place on election day.

Republicans noted that the length of the ballot will increase the time it takes voters to fill it out, and potential equipment malfunctions could also increase voting time and cause long lines at polling places.

The paper ballot for this year’s Maricopa County general election is two pages long and double-sided, which is a first. since 2006 that the ballot paper was longer than one page, presenting new technical problems. Maricopa County Director of Elections warned Scott Jarrett in September, the ballot tabulating machines may jam because two sheets of paper will be inserted instead of one. He said poll workers are getting extra training to know how to address tab issues and allay voter concerns.
