Athlete Primrose wins gold in the 200m race

The 7th Annual OR Tambo-Soncini Social Cohesion Games held at the University of Johannesburg’s Kingsway Campus saw Calvin Kandira win the U15 200m heats.

After winning the 200m final at the Curro Podium event in Pretoria, Kandira, a Year 9 student at Hoërskool Goudrif, entered the tournament with much enthusiasm.

Kandira won gold in the 200m solo and 100m 4×4 relay.

“I took first place in the 200 m with a time of 22:06. I am happy with my performance considering I was up against some of the top competitors in the province.

“I will resume training in preparation for next year’s events in the Central Gauteng Athletics calendar and school events,” Kandira added.
