HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — An investigation is underway after deputies say a 17-year-old boy was killed Sunday during a robbery in northwest Harris County.

The video above is from a preliminary report.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said 17-year-old Adolphus McKenzie was shot during a robbery outside his apartment complex on TC Jester around 9:30 p.m.

Sgt. Greg Pinkins said when deputies arrived at the complex, they found McKenzie with multiple gunshot wounds.

The first interventions declared him dead on the spot.

Investigators said neighbors reported hearing gunshots and a vehicle speeding away, but did not witness the shooting.

In an update, deputies said a man with a gunshot wound was treated at a nearby urgent care facility.

The sheriff’s office said he was being held until investigators arrived, but authorities have not released any information about a suspect at this time.

Homicide detectives said they are looking for video and whether McKenzie knew her killers.

The case will be presented to a Harris County grand jury.
