The Ministry of Women expands its activity – FBC News

The Ministry of Women works with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Rural Development to provide crucial information and empowerment sessions for rural women in Fiji.

The Minister of Women, Lynda Tabuya, emphasizes the importance of these initiatives.

She adds that while significant progress has been made in rural areas, there is an urgent need to extend these efforts to urban women.

“However, we need to extend these efforts to urban women as 25% of our population lives in informal and squatter settlements, many of which are poverty-stricken. They also need access to this information. Although they can access hospital, they often do not use the services available, even though the cancer is preventable.”

Tabuya pointed out that although these women may have access to healthcare facilities, they often do not use the services available, which is worrying given that cancer is preventable.

She says the Ministry is committed to addressing these disparities by creating programs that empower all women, regardless of their living conditions.
