Fox’s Brian Kilmeade breaks down with the Democratic senator

Host of Fox News Brian Kilmeade he argued with Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) Monday for Vice President of Kamala Harris crime record and why he declined to comment on a California ballot initiative while voting over the weekend.

“Senator, how do you feel about Axios calling her the ‘no comment’ candidate when it comes to this issue in particular and Proposition 36 in California?” asked Kilmeade.

“Well, to me, the two candidates’ positions on immigration are clear. Kamala Harris approved a very specific and detailed legislative act. This is the bipartisan border security bill that we negotiated with very conservative Republicans James Lankford that would dramatically increase investment at the border,” Murphy replied, adding:

It would allow the president to close the border when crossings become too high. It would fix our broken asylum system so that, you know, no one can stay in this country for 5 or 10 years with processed asylum claims. Donald Trump killed the bill, even though it was supported by conservative Republicans and the Border Patrol.

I don’t know about California’s ballot questions. I live in Connecticut. But I’m just saying this idea that people don’t know what Kamala Harris stands for on immigration is not true.

“Well, I can show you, just on Prop 36, it’s pretty specific. Basically they’re going to basically put in serious crimes, stop the penalties, stop the petty criminal, be tougher on crime, make shoplifting a felony, increase the penalties for drug charges, centers for selling certain drugs, such as fentanyl, heroin and cocaine, makes them tougher, requires warnings of possible felony charges for selling or supplying drugs. So if you want to be tough on crime, why not say how you voted there?” Kilmeade pressed.

“Yeah, I heard what she said early on to show that she’s not interested in, you know, weighing a California ballot measure. She is running for President of the United States. And, you know, you can compare the two candidates’ immigration records. Fewer people cross the border today than during Donald Trump’s presidency. But you can also compare their criminal records. Crime started when Donald Trump was president at the end of Donald Trump’s presidency, we were less safe than it was under Joe Biden,” Murphy said as Kilmeade protested.

“You really think you have a strong argument there from the party that gave you the police defunding. You’ve got to be kidding me!” Kilmeade insisted.

“One hundred percent,” Murphy replied, while Kilmeade suggested Murphy didn’t think Harris had a better record.

“One hundred percent. But look, but look at the data, right? Crime is down,” the Democrat insisted.

“We have 20 percent less urban homicides,” Murphy continued, as Kilmeade chimed in, “The FBI has renewed its crime and they’re up 4.2 percent.”

“That’s not, that’s not true. Urban gun homicides are down 20 percent in this country. Mass shootings are 20 percent less this year than last year,” Murphy said, while Kilmeade disagreed.

“It’s absolutely true that there are few gun homicides in this country, and that’s inconvenient, but that’s the truth,” Murphy concluded.

“Senator, do you know the truth? You have an opportunity to show you’re tough on crime by saying I supported the ballot measure that shows the insanity of the easy-on-crime policies he was a part of. But she says that’s not up to me,” Kilmeade replied before moving on.
