According to a report by Bar and benchKaustubh Shakkarwar, who is pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) in Intellectual Property and Technology Law at Jindal Global Law School, denied the allegation that he had used you-generated responses.

In his petition, Shakkarwar said that he appeared for the final examination for the subject “Law and Justice in the Globalizing World” on May 18. On June 25, the Unfair Means Committee told him his answers were “88% AI. -generated” reason why the topic failed.

The Court requests the University’s response

Later, the Controller of Examinations also upheld the commission’s decision.

Shakkarwar, who previously worked as a researcher at Chief Justice of Indiahas now approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, rejecting the allegations of using AI.

The court asked OP Jindal Global University to respond to the student’s petition and listed the matter for hearing on November 14.

He didn’t use AI, says the student

In his petition, Shakkarwar, who runs a litigation-related AI platform, said the answers submitted by him were original and no AI tools were used by him. He also argued that the university has not issued any explicit guidelines on the use of AI and argued that since AI is a tool, plagiarism can only be established if there is a copyright infringement.

“The University is silent in stating that the use of AI would amount to ‘plagiarism’ and therefore the petitioner cannot be prosecuted for what is not expressly prohibited,” the petition said.

He also claimed that the university had not provided a “bit of evidence” to support their allegations against him.

HT.com has contacted OP Jindal Global University for a comment. This report will be updated when they respond.
