Knoxville police are looking for a suspect after a fatal crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a crash Friday night on Magnolia Avenue.

KPD said officers responded to Magnolia Avenue at Mary Street around 7:45 p.m., where a pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car.

Despite life-saving efforts, KPD said the victim, an adult male, was pronounced dead after being transported away from the scene. He has not been identified.

The vehicle involved in the fatal incident left the area before officers arrived on the scene, traveling eastbound on Magnolia Avenue. KPD believes the vehicle was a black SUV or crossover driven by a white male.

The suspect has not been located or identified, according to KPD. Anyone with information that could assist the ongoing investigation is asked to call East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165.
