The Scrapper Sisters announce a new driver for the Ahead of the Strip Las Vegas team

Scrappers Sisters have announced the expansion of their track range. By welcoming Top Fuel driver Travis Shumake into their ranks, the team is set to add new energy to the squad as they head into I see NHRA Nationals Performance at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Comprised of Top Fuel rookie Jasmine Salinas and Pro Stock motorcycle rider Jianna Evaristo, the Scrappers team is loaded with talent. Since taking action due to her father Mike Salinas’ medical leave, Jasmine Salinas has had a strong rookie year, but her performance hasn’t always been as high as she’d like.

Jianna Evaristo, on the other hand, is facing what could be described as a career peak. Riding the Valley Services Scrappers Racing Pro Stock bike, her training under the guidance of Matt Smith Racing prepared her for a possible breakthrough in Las Vegas, via Drag Illustrated.

“I love racing in Las Vegas. It’s a fantastic facility and I think we’re peaking at the right time. The learning never stops and I love the challenge, but I’m ready to get this Buell in the winner’s circle.”

For Travis Shumake, joining the Scrappers marks an important chapter in the evolution of his drag racing career. Travis, whose heritage stems from his father Tripp Shumake, a famous NHRA Funny Car driver, brings with him a deep history.

After stepping away from drag racing following the tragic death of his father in 1999, Travis rekindled his racing ambitions in 2021. As the first openly gay driver in the NHRA, his commitment to inclusion and diversity in the sport is as celebrated as and his professional endeavors.

This event will be Travis’ fourth start of the season in the Gillette Labs Top Fuel dragster. He won’t be a rookie contender in the Rookie of the Year race.

The Ford Performance NHRA Nationals at The Strip promises to be an eventful campaign that runs from October 31st to November 3rd in Las Vegas. Fans can anticipate qualifying sessions on November 1st and 2nd, leading to eliminations starting at 11am on November 3rd.
