50 Cent Talks Tension With STARZ CEO Over Ties To Diddy

50 Cent has opened up about the factors that caused a rift between him and the current STARZ CEO, and believe it or not, Diddy had something to do with it.

In a no-holds-barred interview with Hot97, rap mogul and entertainment powerhouse 50 Cent revealed a strained relationship with STARZ CEO Jeffrey Hirsch fueled in large part by Hirsch’s ties to Bad Boy director Sean “Diddy” Combs. 50 Cent’s projects on STARZ, especially his hit show Powerwere among the network’s biggest hits.

However, he said his dominance of the platform has led to internal concerns. The tension escalated when Hirsch allegedly tried to launch other shows to compete with 50 Cent’s projects. In particular, he pointed out that not only does the new Fat Joe Talks series look like an initiative he had plans for, he claimed Diddy had something to do with it as well.

“And they (STARZ) really struggled in other areas — they tried to create another version of what was going on over there on the Joe (Fat Joe) show,” 50 Cent said, referring to his new talk show his formal rival. “I would have done it a different way too, because obviously it’s growing. Correct. But that was a Puffy production.”

According to Fifty, Hirsch’s involvement with Diddy dates back to when he helped the mogul land a major deal for Revolt Media — a collaboration that 50 believes affected Hirsch’s perspective on their businesses. In the words of the 50s, Hirsch’s history with Diddy is the crux of the matter. He shared that Hirsch had a subordinate role in helping establish Diddy’s Revolt network.

“Puff sees him as a worker bee,” remarked 50, “He’s been helping the Rebellion business. He set up the Mutiny deal for Puff.

However, according to 50 Cent, Diddy no longer needed Hirsch after that, which left the executive free to climb the corporate ladder — eventually leading him to the role of CEO at STARZ. But the G-Unit mastermind says he’s not at all impressed with his new post, which is another layer to the problems between them.

“Now the guy is the CEO and you think you over me? No, I’m not over it. I don’t give a damn what your job title is,” he added, making it clear that his influence and brand power still trumps Hirsch’s corporate title in his eyes.

Hirsch and Diddy’s collaboration on Revolt is part of a larger chapter in Diddy’s business history, though Diddy recently stepped away from involvement with the network amid mounting legal issues. Amid sexual assault allegations and an ongoing federal sex-trafficking investigation, Diddy’s exit from Revolt marked a significant shift, potentially impacting the media landscape Hirsch once helped build.
