Kenny Petty died in a crash in Franklin County

FRANKLIN CO., Ala. (Waffle) – One man is dead and two others are injured in a wreck in Franklin County Thursday night, officials say.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the incident happened on Alabama 243 near mile marker 11.

ALEA officials said a 1992 Ford F-150 collided head-on with a 2022 Dodge Ram 2500. After the initial incident, the Ford left the road, overturned and then struck a tree. The Dodge, driven by Larry Davis, 63, of Pike Road, left the road and struck a tree.

Officials said the driver of the Ford was identified as Kenny R. Petty, 68, of Phil Campbell. Petty was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Officials said Petty was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge, Davis, and the passenger, Ronald K. Rollins, 57, of Montgomery were injured and taken to Russellville Hospital.

The incident remains under investigation by ALEA.
