2024 Jewish Book and Arts Festival

This 52nd annual book and arts festival at the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center celebrates the Jewish experience and cultural impact in the world. Includes a book lover’s lunch with Samantha Green Woodruff and a hands-on cooking class with Micah Siva. Attendees can choose between a full festival pass or a three-event pass.

“The Year of Magical Thinking”

Main Street Theater in Rice Village kicks off its 2024-2025 season with a performance of Joan Didion’s play adapted from her memoir. The one-woman play tells the story of the sudden and unexpected loss of Didion’s husband and the prolonged illness of her only daughter.

Pet hair

The Houston Humane Society hosts this 34th annual golf tournament at Hermann Park Golf Course and raises funds for the organization’s initiatives, which affect more than 60,000 animals annually. Includes a raffle, raffles and prizes, lunch, refreshments and prizes for holes in one and the longest drive.

Bellaire Arts and Crafts Festival

The Bellaire Arts and Culture Council is bringing this event to Paseo Park with over 75 local vendors, food, children’s activities and live music. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Leashed dogs are allowed.

Movie night at Helix Park

Guests can visit Helix Park at the Texas Medical Center for a screening of “Top Gun” while enjoying popcorn, candy and a variety of beverages. Food is available for purchase. Participants are asked to arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of the film and bring a mat or towel to sit on.

The 75th Annual HEB Thanksgiving Day Parade

This parade is one of the oldest Thanksgiving Day parades in the country, attracts several hundred thousand Houstonians and travels more than 20 blocks through downtown Houston. The event features elaborate floats, colorful marching bands and high-flying balloons.
