WACO, Texas (KWTX) – The Junior League of Waco’s annual Deck the Halls event is underway, but with some changes this year.

The 3-day Christmas themed shopping market will be based at the Extraco Event Center rather than the Waco Convention Center where it is traditionally held.

The Ladies Night pre-shopping event was also moved to Friday night instead of Thursday due to Halloween.

Co-chair Lindsay Benning said the excitement was real as the doors opened to shoppers Friday morning.

“It’s just a great way to start the season with your family,” Benning said.

Shopping started on Friday at 9:00 AM and closes at 5:00 PM

Ladies Night, which gives ladies a chance to shop with friends over food and drink, will follow on Friday from 7pm to 10pm.

The market will reopen on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

Breakfast with Santa, where children are encouraged to wear pajamas, is Saturday at 10 a.m., with a gingerbread party at 2:30 p.m.

The final day of Deck the Halls will be on Sunday from 10am to 4pm

There will also be a mother-daughter tea at 12:30 p.m.

Benning says the money raised at Deck the Halls will help pre-K students in the Waco School District.

“Deck the Halls is the main revenue generator for all the work the leagues do around the year,” Benning said.
