Ohio State recruits Darryn Peterson, Isaiah Denis to announce picks

Two Ohio State men’s basketball recruiting targets are set to make their college announcements in the next couple of days.

Darryn Peterson, a five-star prospect from Northeast Ohio and Isaiah Denisa four-star guard from North Carolina, will publicly announce his commitments for the 2025 recruiting class. Both have taken official visits to Ohio State and have the Buckeyes among their finalists.

Peterson is first. The 6-5, 195-pound guard will announce his choice on Friday live on CBS Sports HQ, the CBS Sports app and the 247Sports.com YouTube channel. The announcement will begin at 9:00 PM Eastern and will see Peterson choose from the finalists Kansas, Kansas State, Ohio State and USC. He made official visits to all four programs, and his visit to Ohio State was the weekend of August 31st.

He is the national prospect no. 3 in the 247Sports.com rankings. Ohio State offered him a scholarship before he set foot in high school and remained a viable option for Peterson throughout his recruitment, even though coach Chris Holtmann was fired midseason and replaced by Jake Diebler.

On Saturday, Denis will make his announcement at 7pm on the 247Sports YouTube channel. A 6-5, 175-pound combo guard from Davidson (North Carolina), Denis took an official visit to Ohio State the weekend of Sept. 7. Two weeks later, Denis announced seven finalists: North Carolina, Ohio State, Miami (Florida), Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Wake Forest and Kansas. He is known to have taken official visits to Pitt, Miami, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Tennessee and Ohio State.

247Sports ranks the 6-5, 175-pound Denis as the nation’s No. 1 prospect. 47, guard combo no. 8 in the nation and the No. 2 player in North Carolina.

Ohio State has two commitments for its 2025 class. Dorian Jones, a four-star guard from Richmond Heights, Ohioand A’mare Bynum, four-star forward at Branson (Missouri) Link Academy. Jones is the nation’s No. 1 prospect. 68 and Bynum No. 99 in the 247Sports rankings. The Buckeyes have the No. 1 national recruiting class. 28 according to the website.

Ohio State is expected to sign three or four players for this recruiting class.
