passima nonprofit program, provides individualized instruction for ages 6 to 20 who need to recover before starting school. Disabled or ESOL students welcome. Virtual training is offered. Every Step of the Waya monthly email newsletter from Greenville First Steps, specifically geared toward your child’s age and development. The newsletter is completely free. Physical education courses at home are offered for ages 5 – 14 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm Wednesdays at the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA and Mondays and Wednesdays at the Middle Tyger YMCA. From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, participants participate in a fitness class that includes a warm-up, stretching, core strength and endurance, and a dynamic warm-up. Each week, students also work on developing athletic skills by learning the basics of basketball, soccer, pickleball, volleyball, golf or another sport. The BlocHaven team for ages 6 – 18 watch indoor rock climbing in a fun, supportive environment where youth build strength, endurance and confidence. Coaches cater for all skill levels with an emphasis on personal growth and a love of sport. Competition is not necessary. Well, Walkers is offered every Tuesday and Thursday in November except November 26 and 28 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The arena gym will be open from 9am to 1pm for anyone who wants a temperature-controlled space to exercise. Each loop around the concourse is a quarter mile. Well Walkers is a free event with no registration or advance notice. Free parking for attendees is provided in the arena’s VIP lot, located off Church Street. For details visit bonsecoursarena.com.

Club of Little Teachers, available from the Greenville County Library System, is designed specifically for children under 5 to encourage the development of kindergarten readiness skills using Palmetto Basics. The details are at greenvillelibrary.org/kids/little-learners-club.

Free books – Greenville First Steps launched a Dolly Parton Imagination Library pilot in Greenville County. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is an early literacy program that mails free age-appropriate books to registered children from birth to age 5 each month. Currently, in Greenville County, children in 29690, 29611 and 29669 can enroll in Imagination Library. Registration is available at ImaginationLibrary.com.

Cold reading workshop for grades 3 – 12 is 9 am – noon Dec. 14 at the Spartanburg Youth Theater. Cost is $55 each. Cold readings and script work are essential to the callback process, and becoming comfortable with both will help students feel more confident in any audition. Cold readings are sections of dialogue or a monologue from a script that the student has never seen before. Executives often use them on calls to look for bold choices that will make you stand out. This workshop will provide one-on-one guidance from SYT staff on tips and tricks on how to make sure cold readings don’t give you cold feet. Kimilee Bryant Studio accepting new voice students and beginning piano. Voice students must be at least 7 years old and able to read. Pageant coaching (talent, interview and presentation) is also offered by appointment. Regular students participate in recitals and events throughout the year. Adventure Music Courses it’s Mondays at 9:30 and 10:30 at the Swamp Rabbit Café in the coffee shop. Classes are geared for Pre-K – Grade 1.
