VP Kamala Harris will campaign Sunday in Detroit, Pontiac, East Lansing

Vice President Kamala Harris will spend Sunday campaigning in Michigan, making stops in Detroit, Pontiac and East Lansing before Election Day on Tuesday, officials said.

Harris will then close his campaign on Monday in Pennsylvania, another key battleground state in what is expected to be a close elections between Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, and former President Donald Trump, the Republican.

Sunday will be the 16th day Harris has spent in Michigan this year, although he made four visits before launching his presidential campaign in August. most recently, she held a rally Monday near UM in Ann Arbor. A senior Harris campaign official, who declined to be identified, said Harris will attend church in Detroit on Sunday and visit the Livernois area of ​​the city. Strong turnout in Detroit is generally critical to Michigan Democrats’ success.

Harris will then make a stop in Pontiac, another city with a significant black population and historic ties to the auto industry, the official said.

Harris then expects to move to East Lansing, where the official said he will court another key constituency, young voters, by holding remarks around 6:30 p.m. at Michigan State University. MSU is also located in the congressional district of what is seen as a key statewide race between Democrat Curtis Hertel, Jr. of East Lansing and Republican Tom Barrett of Charlotte. Both are former state senators.

Colleagues of the presidential candidates are also active in Michigan as Election Day approaches.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Democrat, has stops planned Friday in Detroit, Flint and Traverse City.

Ohio Sen. JD Vance, Republican, is scheduled to speak Friday at Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport in Portage.
