Law enforcement is looking for a murder suspect in Chapin

CHAPIN, SC (WIS) – The Chapin Police Department, in cooperation with several law enforcement partners, is conducting an active search in and around the Chapin area for Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, 45, who is actively wanted for crime.

Hamlett was reported to be in the Chapin area and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Law enforcement was deployed to the town of Chapin Thursday night, including multiple officers, helicopters and K-9s. Authorities say the suspect has not yet been found.

Officers say they will continue to drive and patrol throughout the night. They say they will use other resources once more information is available on his location. Chapin Police suggest everyone lock their doors tonight and call 911 for anyone suspicious.

Hamlett was reported to be in the Chapin area and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

If you see someone matching Hamlett’s description, authorities say to stay away and call 911 immediately.
