A Grayson County man has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting children

SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) – A Grayson County man who was on the run for 20 years after being accused of sexually assaulting children was sentenced to life in prison Thursday.

Grayson County District Attorney Brett Smith announced that 51-year-old Anthony Rae received two life sentences for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Smith said that in 2003, the Van Alstyne Police Department investigated allegations of abuse against Rae, and he was arrested and charged later that year.

Rae was out on bail in 2004 while awaiting trial, but failed to appear in court in 2005.

According to Smith, in 2019 Rae was found in the UK living under the alias Tony Campbell, and in 2020 he was arrested in London.

In 2023, Rae was extradited back to Grayson County after several appeals.

Rae was convicted by a jury of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child.
