Corrections and Clarifications: An earlier version of this article provided incorrect information about when the 911 kidnapping call was made.

A jogger found the body of a woman in a farm field in San Tan Valley, west of Ganzel Road and south of Skyline Drive, Wednesday morning, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said about 10 minutes after the jogger called 911, a second call came in about a nearby kidnapping.

The kidnapping claim turned out to be a fake call made by the deceased’s son, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies confirmed on social media that the deceased woman, 38-year-old Mary Collier, was the alleged abductee and appeared to be the victim of a homicide. The victim’s 18-year-old son was investigated as a suspect. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for self-inflicted injuries, officials said.

He faces first-degree murder charges upon his release from the hospital, officials said.

The investigation was ongoing.
