“The forum addresses the region’s commitment to human development, inclusion and resilience, exploring socio-economic changes, evolving geopolitical landscapes and the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Minister Furbert will contribute to these discussions as a speaker at Round Table 1: Adaptive Social Protection Systems for Vulnerable Populations. This session explores key topics including:

  • Care policies: exploring policies that support and improve care for vulnerable populations, with a focus on adaptability and resilience.
  • Access to healthcare for vulnerable groups: examining ways to integrate adaptive measures into healthcare systems, ensuring reliable and responsive access for vulnerable populations.
  • Educational opportunities: exploring policies and practices that incorporate adaptability into education systems, ensuring continuous and quality learning experiences for vulnerable populations. Emphasis will be placed on preventive care and mental health support.

Minister Furbert’s speech will focus on “ensuring that vulnerable populations have adequate access to financial resources”, emphasizing the importance of sustainable financing of social policies to support those most affected by economic or environmental crises. A central focus will be promoting inclusive financial systems that empower all members of the community to flourish, especially during uncertain times. As well as supporting sustainable social funding, Minister Furbert plans to explore how technology can improve the delivery of social services.”

“Effective, accessible and adaptable social services are essential as we face climate and other crises,” said Minister Furbert. “We must harness technology to ensure these services meet the evolving needs of our communities. Our region’s resilience is based on our commitment to ensure that everyone, especially the most vulnerable, has access to the support and resources they need to thrive. Bermuda is dedicated to contributing innovative solutions, particularly in technology integration, to make social policies sustainable and transformative. I am honored to represent Bermuda and advocate for a future where no one is left behind.”
