A Granville man has been charged in Vermont with triple homicide to stay in prison

The Granville man accused of killing his father, stepmother and half-brother is likely to remain in jail pending trial.

Brian Crossman Jr., 22, is charged with three counts of murder in the death of Brian Crossman Sr., 46; Erica (Pawlusiak) Crossman, 41; and his 13-year-old half-brother, Colin Taft. The murders occurred early Sunday morning, Sept. 15, at the family’s home on Vermont Route 133 in Pawlet, which is just across the border from Granville.

Crossman was due in court on Wednesday, October 30 for an “evidentiary hearing”. However, our media partners at The Post-Star are reporting that Crossman’s attorney has dropped out of the hearing.

Rutland County State’s Attorney Ian Sullivan told the newspaper that the waiver means Crossman will remain in prison. Sullivan said Crossman’s attorney, Daniel Maguire, reserves the right to reschedule the hearing and seek bail at a later date.

The court has scheduled a status conference for December 9 at 3:00 PM to schedule discovery in preparation for trial.
