Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that is often found next to talc, an ingredient used in many cosmetics. However, asbestos is also a known carcinogen.

The recall came as a result of routine sampling by the FDA, which revealed that the products contained asbestos. Upon further investigation, Dynarex said additional batches of product may contain asbestos due to the use of the same bulk talc material.
