Restaurant and bar hit by thieves overnight on west and south side

At least two businesses, a restaurant and a bar, were broken into overnight on the Near West and Near South Sides, Chicago police said.

The most recent break-in happened just before 3:30 a.m. at a bar in the 600 block of West Lake Street. Officers responded to a burglary call and found the front door of a bar had been broken into.

A preliminary investigation revealed that several robbers entered the bar and later fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Around the same time overnight, a restaurant in the 200 block of West 26th Street was broken into. The restaurant was closed when three armed robbers broke the front glass door and entered before taking the cash register and fleeing the scene, police said.

Three women were inside the restaurant but were not injured, police said.

No one was in custody for the armed burglaries and detectives were investigating.
